What the employee needs to do?

Employee obligations for returning to work are not defined by law.  Instead, a combination of workplace policy and practice as well as self-interest defines their approach to getting back to work.

Key issues for the employee are:

  • Be familiar with workplace policy on return to work
  • Make early contact with the employer
  • Inform them of your intention to return to work
  • Be prepared to come back to work gradually
  • Cooperate with return to work planning
